Capture without leaving the sentence.

Type // in any Mac app. The thought files itself. You keep writing.

v1.1.4 · macOS 13+ · Apple Silicon & Intel · ~2.6 MB · free tier is free forever

Every time you switch apps to jot down a task, calculate a sum, or save a snippet, you pay a tax. It's called "attention residue"—the cognitive cost of context switching. You might only spend ten seconds in your to-do app, but your focus takes twenty minutes to fully recover.

Doubleslash exists to eliminate that tax. By bringing capture to the caret, you offload thoughts at the speed of typing, without ever breaking your flow state.

* The concept of attention residue was coined by Sophie Leroy in 2009.

Speed of thought.

Every app you already love, now with shortcuts.

Same caret-anchored HUD in Mail, Obsidian, Notes, TextEdit — and everywhere else you type.

Where your keystrokes go: Nowhere.

Doubleslash runs entirely locally. It does not phone home. It does not send analytics from the app. It requires Accessibility and Input Monitoring to detect // and place the HUD at your caret — that data never leaves your machine for core targets.

Network is used only for opt-in Slack posts and one-time Gumroad license activation. Password fields and secure input are skipped.

We believe tools requiring deep system access must be radically transparent. Currently, Doubleslash is ad-hoc signed. You can verify the integrity of your download using the hash below.

I built Doubleslash because I was tired of breaking my focus just to remember to do something later. It’s built for people who treat their Mac like a precision instrument. I believe shipping beats waiting, which is why v1 is ad-hoc signed. "Founding Pro" sales directly fund our Apple Developer Program enrollment.

Questions

Is this a keylogger?

No. Doubleslash only arms after you type // in a normal text field. Password fields and secure input are skipped. Core capture never leaves your Mac.

Is the app signed? (Why unsigned?)

Currently ad-hoc signed (not Apple-notarized). After download: drag to Applications, then Right-click → Open the first time. Notarized builds targeted for 2026-08-23 — see /security.

What if I don't like it? (Refunds)

If you buy Pro and it doesn't fit, email within 14 days for a full refund. Details: refunds.

Will this come to Windows?

Mac is the product today. Windows/Linux is on an early waitlist — email tafil.help@gmail.com if you want in.
